A pool table can provide your family and friends with hours of entertainment. It is also an expensive investment and you should know exactly what to look for when choosing the pool table that is right for you. Even new pool tables can have flaws that will cause your game to be off. Examine the table carefully before making the final purchase and look for these things.
The surface of the table should feel completely smooth without having any bumps, scratches or tears in the fabric. You can move your hand across the fabric while gently pressing down to check for waves or ripples in the fabric. Avoid tables in which the fabric is loose.
Be sure that the table is level. It should not move at all, even when it is leaned upon. You should be able to bump the table and see no movement.
Look for a heavy table. The heavier the table the better quality that you can expect and the longer the table will remain in good condition.
Take a look at the size of the pockets. Some pool experts like the pockets on the table to be large. You can test the width of the pockets by placing two balls in the narrowest part of the pocket. The balls should fit with ease into the pockets.
Consider the table as a partner, some you will like better than others. You should be sure and actually shoot some balls on the table before making a decision.
After you have chosen the pool table that you are happy with, be careful when transporting the table. Be sure to protect the surface of the table by wrapping it in some soft and shock absorbent packing material. Also try and keep the table upright, rather than transporting it on the side or top down.
